Outfit of the Day: Autumn Knitwear

I was going to name this Outfit of the Day ‘The Long-line Knit’ but on looking at this photo it just doesn’t actually look that long, it just feels it. This blog post was created in between delivering Eid presents to the neighbours; so if you’re celebrating Eid tonight have a good one!

Now that the winter weather is drawing in, I’ve started eyeing up the big jumpers. Alas, it hasn’t quite been that cold so those bad boys have stayed relegated to the closet. I’ve been wearing this top to work practically every week since I picked it up from Primark along with the ‘outfit of the day’ t-shirt.

It could be just another plain boring jumper to throw on when you can’t quiet be arsed rummaging through the closet you absolutely, 100% will tidy up at weekend. Yup.

I think the fake-shirt bits (fake-shirt bits… I feel like these should have a more technical term…) just up the ante a bit, especially the way the bottom hem is cut into a slight curve. For some reason having a curved shirt flapping about makes me feel a bit like a cross between a butler at the end of the night and a slightly drunk toff.

Because the top is plain, I do feel that it needs a bit of something, so I’ve added my ‘clock’ necklace from Accessorize. I got it way back when, but love how individual it is – I’m yet to see someone else wearing it.

Anyway, I’ve teamed this jumper with some plain navy skinny jeans and my L K Bennet heels (which you can see in more detail here.) I say I’ve teamed this with jeans as if this is something out of the ordinary but patterned jazzy pants scare me slightly so jeans are the current go to.

With regards to make-up, I thought ‘go bright or go home’ so went with the brightest red lip I could. It doesn’t look to bright on the photo, which is a shame, but when I wore it for a work outing it flashed up in the big boss’s review mirror and she muttered ‘Christ that’s bright.’ So trust me; it’s pretty damn bright in real life.

In other news I’ve just bumped into a friend who noted that ‘I’ve heard your Mum’s bush is quite popular’ which is a lot more innocent than it sounds. In the last few days my dad cut the garden hedge into a caterpillar… So far BBC Radio Lancashire has covered it and The Sun and The Mirror have been taking photos and asking interviews. So yeah, new claim to fame for me.

Outfit of the Week: The Go To Wrap Dress

Before we start I feel like I should grovel to you because of the quality of these photos. Earlier in the week, I had been playing around with the settings on my phone’s camera; and I am yet to work out what I’ve actually done (and how to undo it.)

Also, I’m yet to persuade anyone else that fashion photography is actually their calling, so selfies it is.

This week, I was really stumped at what to wear for this blog post. Tonight was the only night I could have a photography session but as I had eaten all the food, nothing was going to look brilliant. So hey ho, here’s the go to wrap dress.

This dress is part of my dream workwear wardrobe, it’s just below the knee and fairly demure in its print, so great for the office. Also, women of a certain age all rage about wrap dresses because ‘they hide all the lumps and bumps’ apparently. What more could I want?

I tried to get a close up here, so you could see the wrap detail, but all that is really standing out in the photo is my lovely chipped nails (you can read a post on this nail varnish here) – just keeping it real, dawwg. I also feel like one of my arms looks a bit weird, as if it’s been superimposed there, but it hasn’t, I promise.

I paired this dress with a plum lip because I felt like this outfit needed a splash of colour, but at the same time I didn’t want to go too bright. The shoes are just a pair of plain patent court shoes, because nothing says an easy outfit like black court shoes.

The print of this dress includes whites, creams and greys, which I really like. I feel that if this dress wasn’t so multi-tonal it would be a bit boring, or even a little bit past it. I also like the sleeve length, if like me you work in a freezing cold office; they will keep out the chill. However, because they are cropped you can also show off your babein new bracelet. If (unlike me) you remember to put one on, obz.

Outfit of the Week: The Wannabe Butlin’s Rep

In an ideal life there would be more photos in this post, to convey just how much I’m loving this jacket. It would also help brighten it up, however my usual photograph is in Europe on a business trip and everyone else who I could blag are (strategically) busy. As such, I’ve roped in a less than willing volunteer – so I thought I best not push my look.

This blazer could possibly be the new #TheDress (people still remember The Dress, don’t they?) as it has divided opinion on if it is actually red or orange.

I would have sat on the fence and said it was an orangey-red; however after close scientific inspection I can tell you it is Coral Tonic. Because it matches my Rimmel Coral Tonic lipstick perfectly. I love that although it is tailored, it’s still a bit loose. I could even go all fashionable and claim it offers a languid silhouette (who thought I’d be saying that after this post?)

When I buy bright coloured things, most people say I won’t wear them much, as it can be hard to put them with other clothes. But this beaut is only £17, so it doesn’t really matter. It is from Primark’s current office-wear section but it would look great with everything. I’m convinced.

There is the slight down-side in that the colour and loose fit sometimes makes you wonder if you look like a Butlin’s rep. But then at least you’ll look really fun, like manically fun.

For once, almost all the clothes in this post are new-ish. The skirt is from New Look, I only bought it because it was a fiver and I was only £4.00 away from free shipping. It was in the sale and classed as navy, but unless you study the pantone chart meticulously it might as well be black. I feel like I should be slimmer to wear a skirt like this – it is very body-hugging. On the other hand, I like it and I can just wear it and imagine I’m thinner, right?

The bag is one I’ve blogged about before, here. Incidentally, the apple on it also matches perfectly. I’m actually a little bit excited that I am so coordinated. This normally only occurs after hours of outfit based day-dreaming.

Just in case you are wondering why there are suddenly little photos at the side of my blog posts now, you’ll be pleased to know I am finally on Instagram. I’ve been putting it off because I didn’t feel like my life was glossy enough, but eventually jumped on the bandwagon. Therefore, here’s the compulsory selfie.

(See, told you the jacket was the same colour as the lippy!)
